Quick answers
Short, honest answers to the questions MEPCO consumers ask most. Last updated 16 October 2026.
How can I check my MEPCO bill online?
Enter your 14-digit reference number (from any old bill) on the official PITC web-bill page linked from mepco.com.pk. Your current bill appears with the amount, due date and units — no account or fee needed. See our step-by-step bill check guide.
Where is the 14-digit reference number on my bill?
Near the top of the bill next to 'Reference No', usually printed above the barcode. It never changes for your connection, so save it in your phone.
Can I check my MEPCO bill with my CNIC number?
No — the official portal has no CNIC lookup; it accepts the 14-digit reference number or 10-digit Customer ID. One CNIC can hold several connections, so CNIC alone can't identify a bill. Read our honest CNIC guide for alternatives.
How do I get a duplicate MEPCO bill?
Look up your bill on the official portal with your reference number, then use your browser's Print option and choose 'Save as PDF' or print. The copy is accepted at banks, JazzCash, Easypaisa and utility stores.
What is the MEPCO helpline number?
118 for complaints, plus SMS 8118. MEPCO also lists 0800-63726 and 0319-9757789 on its website.
What are the current MEPCO per-unit rates?
Under NEPRA's 2026 uniform tariff (effective 1 January 2026): lifeline Rs 3.95–7.74, protected Rs 10.54–13.01, non-protected Rs 22.44–47.69 per unit depending on the slab. See our full tariff table.
Why is my bill so high this month?
The usual causes: crossing into a higher slab (one rate applies to all units), summer AC usage, Fuel Price Adjustment, or an estimated (not actual) meter reading. Compare the bill's current reading with your meter.
What is FPA on my electricity bill?
Fuel Price Adjustment — a monthly NEPRA-approved adjustment reflecting changes in fuel costs. It can be a charge or a credit, and it varies every month.
How do I pay my MEPCO bill online?
Through your bank's app/website or JazzCash/Easypaisa under Utility Bills → Electricity → MEPCO, using your 14-digit reference number. Always pay before the due date to avoid the late surcharge.
What happens if I pay after the due date?
A late-payment surcharge is added (the 'amount after due date' on your bill), and repeated non-payment can lead to disconnection.
How do I apply for a new MEPCO connection?
Apply through MEPCO's new-connection portal or your nearest office with CNIC, ownership/tenancy proof and a neighbour's bill copy; then pay the demand notice and await meter installation.
My bill shows an estimated reading. What should I do?
Estimated bills use past averages. You can request an actual reading via a complaint (118), or submit your own meter photo through the Power Division's Power Smart app.
Is this website affiliated with MEPCO?
No. This is an independent informational guide. We are not affiliated with MEPCO, WAPDA, PITC, NEPRA or any government body. For official matters, use mepco.com.pk or helpline 118.
Which areas does MEPCO serve?
13 districts of South Punjab, including Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.
How can I check my old MEPCO bills?
Enter your 14-digit reference number on the official PITC portal — the result includes your billing and payment history for the past several months. Very old bills (a few years back) are only available at your MEPCO sub-division office.
Is there an official MEPCO bill app?
Yes — MEPCO SMART, published by PITC and linked from mepco.com.pk. It offers bill check, bill estimator, payments, complaints with tracking, instalment requests and new-connection tracking. Verify the publisher (PITC) on the Play Store before installing.
