The 60-second method
What the result screen shows
- Consumer name, address and meter number — always verify these first
- Billing month and bill number
- Current meter reading vs previous reading, and units consumed
- Amount payable within due date and amount after due date (includes late-payment surcharge)
- Payment history — typically the last several months, useful for spotting a sudden spike
Common errors and fixes
"Invalid reference number"
Almost always a typing mistake. Re-check for a leading zero you dropped, and make sure you entered digits only — no spaces, no dashes, no trailing letter.
Page won't load / bill doesn't appear
The PITC portal occasionally goes down for maintenance, usually around bill-generation days. Wait an hour and retry; try a different browser if the form behaves oddly.
Bill shows someone else's name
Stop — do not pay it. You likely mistyped a digit and landed on another consumer. Double-check your number from a physical bill.
No bill found for this month
Bills are generated on a cycle; if yours isn't generated yet, the portal shows the previous month. New connections may take one full billing cycle to appear.
Reference number vs Customer ID
Your bill carries both: a 14-digit reference number (used for online lookup and for paying through banks and mobile wallets) and a 10-digit Customer/Consumer ID (also accepted on the lookup form — just switch the search option). Neither ever changes for your connection. Save the reference number in your phone's notes.
